Configuring Outlook Express

This article describes the basic steps to configure a mail account in Outlook Express 5 for Windows.

Open Outlook Express and select Accounts from the Tools menu.


Click the Add button, then select Mail as shown.

In the Display Name text box, type your full name. This is the name that other people will see when they receive mail from you.
Click Next.

In the E-mail address text box, type your e-mail address. Then click Next

In the Incoming mail server text box, type the name of the pop server assigned to you. This is generally of the format pop.<yourdomain.com> .


In the Outgoing mail server text box, type the name of the smtp server assigned to you. This is generally of the format smtp.<yourdomain.com> .
Then click Next.

In the Account name text box, type your user name as supplied. This will be in the form of yourname@yourdomain.com.
In the Password box type your assigned password. Click the Remember password check box so that it has a tick. If you don't check this box, you will be prompted for your password each time you check mail. Then click Next.

Then click on Finish.

This will then return one to the internet accounts dialog as shown. Then select the account which you just created and clink on the properties button.

Then select the servers tab as shown below and click on the my server requires authentication. Then click on OK.

Your mail account should now be fully configured.
