Troubleshooting common mail problems
Most problems with the using the mail systems can be
classified into two parts: sending mail and receiving
mail. In most cases problems can be overcome by carefully
following the setup procedure as listed in the section
on Microsoft Outlook
Express or Eudora.
Listed below are a few quick troubleshooting tips for
your mail service.
I can't receive my pop email
- Username: It should be noted that all mail usernames
are of the form username@domainname as specified in
your Customer Configuration Guide
- Domain Name still pointing to an old mail record:
this can be checked by replacing your pop3 server
name with the following IP address
- Account Locked: If you enter a wrong password into
your account too often then account will go into a
locked state and will need to be manually unlocked.
This can be done by contacting
us to have the account unlocked.
I can't send email
- Server Authentication: The mail server is set up
in such a way that it will not allow an untrusted
host send email. This in effect means the following
- The My server requires Authentication
must be ticked if using Outlook Express
- The Authentication allowed
checkbox is ticked if using Eudora
- If you mail client does not support this option
you must use the mail server supplied by your
internet service provider.
